2- Greeting:
Dear children, God the father wants us to trust in Him completely. Where else can we go to look for help but to our loving Father? Let us say thanks for this great love that He has for us.
3- Revision of the commitment:
Last week we all made a commitment. Who has kept this promise?
4- Prayer.
Dear God the Father, Jesus your loving Son has taught us that your love is infinite and that every thing is possible with You. We need many things: to be more generous, to help and to serve at home with love, give joy to those around us, pray with more attention. We know that You listen to us and we give You thanks. Amen.
5- Activity: Game of the blind.
Every one should stand in a circle and in the middle of the circle two children should stand with their eyes covered. The players standing at a distance from one another, should try to find each other by voice. Once they find each other, they should to take off the blind fold of the other. The one who takes it off first is the winner. This can be repeated.
6- Gospel
Mark 10, 46-52.
46Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
48Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
49Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." 50Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."52"Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
7- Reflection:
-What was the name of the blind beggar at the side of the road?
-What did the blind man say when he knew that it was Jesus who was passing?
-What did the people do to make the blind man stop shouting?
-What did the blind man do when Jesus called him?
-What did Jesus say to the blind man and what was the miracle?
8- Enlightenment
The person who is blind or sick or who has a problem wants to come out of that situation. Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus, was blind and was at the road side begging. He had heard of Jesus and when he knew that Jesus was nearby, he started to shout ‘Jesus, son of David have mercy on me.’ The people, who were around, did not like the shouting and asked him to be quiet. He did not listen to them and shouted even more until Jesus called him. Jesus asked him what he wanted and he said that he wanted to see. The blind man was saved because of his faith in Jesus and was able to see. This teaches us that we should pray with faith. We should know what is wrong in our lives and then ask Jesus to help us with faith. This is a wonderful lesson for us to always keep in mind.
9- Celebration
The catechist will invite the children to reflect in silence on what they have learned from this reading. Then the children will think about their needs and ask God the Father for help with faith. After that, they say or sing the ‘Our Father’.
