Theme:

He who believes in Jesus has eternal life.

That the children understand that if we believe in Jesus, we will have the happiness that will last for ever.

Put  an open bible, a cross and a candle on a table in the center of the room. ( the catechist will light the candle during the celebration.)

Dear children, Life everlasting is a happiness that we can not imagine. To be able to reach this everlasting life Jesus gave his life for us and he invites us to believe in him. Let us all say: THANK YOU JESUS BECAUSE YOU HAVE OPENED THE GATES OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

-Have you prayed for all those who do not know Jesus, the true bread of salvation?

-Have you collected used books for children in need?

Dear God the Father, you want us to have a happiness that will never finish and because of this you invite us to follow your son Jesus, loving and helping others. We pray for those who have never heard of you and for those who have gone behind false promises and do not listen to Jesus, your son, so that they open their eyes and their heart to the truth. Amen.

Make groups of six children. Give each group a dice and 12 cards which are placed face down. Each child throws the dice on the cards and where ever it falls, take up the card and read the question. The person who throws the dice answers the question. The names of the players are written on a page and who answers correctly wins 2 points  and who does not answer gets no points. It is possible to play two times so as to remember the messages of the answers. The answers should be written on a page for each group.

The questions are:

1) What words did Jesus use to greet his disciples after his ressurrection? ( peace be with you)

2) Why did many people follow Jesus? (because they saw what Jesus was able to do)

3) When Jesus came down from the boat he saw a great multitude and he felt:( pity because they were like sheep without a shepherd)

4)What powers did Jesus give to his disciples?( to take out devils and to anoint and heal the sick)

5) Why didn’t Jesus make miracles in Nazaret? (because the people there did not believe in him)

6) What did Jesus say to Jairo’s daughter? ( listen to me girl, get up )

7) What did Jesus say to his apostles while they were in the boat during the storm? ( Why are you so afraid? Don’t you have faith? )

8) What did Jesus promise his disciples when he sent them out to teach the word of God to everyone? ( that he would be with them until the end of time)

9) Who sent Jesus? ( he was sent by the Father)

10) Why did Jesus choose us? ( to give fruit that would last)

11) Jesus said that He is the vine and we are : ( the branches)

12) Jesus told the pharisees that He was : (the good shepherd)

-What did the people who knew Jesus since He was a child say?

-Who makes us go closer to Jesus? What does Jesus say to all those who believe in him? Who are the ones who will live for ever?

For many Sundays we have thought about faith. We think that it is easy to believe, but that is not so. We form our own ideas as time goes by, we look at the world  in different ways and sometimes all of this separate us from Jesus and his teachings. Jesus has asked us to believe in him, in his words, in his promises, in his life, in his teachings and in his disinterested love. The temptations against faith come to us without us realizing what is happening. So we must be careful. If we pray, read the word of God and receive the sacraments our faith will be strong and Jesus will be first in our hearts and lives.

The catechist will tell the children to stand around the table where the bible, thecross and the candle were placed. The candle should be lighted. The catechist will invite the children to remember the Gospel reading and to tell Jesus how much they believe in Him.( The meeting could be ended with a song about faith.)
