God makes us feel happy
Objective:
Discover that Jesus offers us a very different happiness to the one propaganda and society in general offer us.
1) Setting:
| Look for some samples of propaganda that promise happiness and a better life, cut them out and put them on the notice board. Put the missionary infancy poster on a visible place. |
2) Greeting:
Hello, Good morning children. Let us observe the poster and say:
3) Prayer:
Dear God, as you love us all, you want us to be happy and to help others to find the way to happiness. We ask you to help all the children of the world who take part of the missionary infancy to be always with Jesus and to help all those in need. Help us to be good children. Amen.
Now let us check our commitment from last week.
-How did you feel talking to other children about Jesus?
-Did you pray for the proposed intention every night?
4) Activity
Game: Write the following words, Love, Help, Solidarity, Joy, Respect, Affection, Generosity, on strips of paper. Some of the children will read what is written on the paper stripes loudly and then put them on the propaganda which is on the notice board and the rest of the children will also read what is on the notice board. The catequist says: We have given a new meaning to happiness which we will not get from material things but from good actitudes that come from the heart.
5) THE WORD OF GOD
Today Jesus talks to us about happiness. Let us listen to him.
Matthew 5, 1-12.
Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down his disciples came to him and he opened his mouth and taught them saying: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kindom of heaven, blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called son of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for rigteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.
6) Catequist explanation:
-Which is the most repeated word in the speech?
-Do you think Jesus make promises of happiness like the ones made in the propaganda?.
-Would anyone like to say something about what Jesus said?
Jesus saw a lot of people, a big crowd and went up the mountain and sat down. His disciples came to him and he started to teach them. Blessed are those who do not have their heart tied up in richness, those who are sad, those who suffer, those who are hungry and thirsty for justice, those who are merciful, those who are pure of heart, those who work for peace, those who are persecuted because they are righteous, because they are the friends of Jesus . The reward will be great in heaven. Jesus invites us to all this so that we can be happy being Missionary infancy : Pure of heart, merciful, just, honest without fearing to say the truth always.
7) Celebration:
Stand up and form in a circle and take some time to think about what we could do during the week to give joy and happiness to some one.
Sing a song ( this song should be chosen before hand).
8) Commitment:
-Do something to bring joy and happiness to someone else.
-Invite your mother to pray with me for all those who are looking for happiness in the wrong places: drugs, drinking, etc.
