4)  Activity

Do you remember what was your last week´s commitment and how many candles each one drew in their notebooks?

Choose a child to take out five pieces of paper with the names of five persons from the group, then read out loud the names of the chosen people and these children should come to the center of the table where the lighted candle is. The catequist should light the other candlesand give them to the five chosen people while saying “I send you to light up Asia”.... and to another “ I send you to light up Europe. ”Each child, holding  a candle should stand in front of the continent that he or she represents.

5)    THE WORD OF GOD

The reading of the gospel: Everybody should listen atentively to the reading.

         Matthew 4,12-23.

At the end of the reading, the teacher asks: What was done with the candles? What name can we give to the children who carried the light to the continents? Let us remember what was said in the gospel “the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light” Who is the great light? With what words did Jesus start his mission? Who did he call to carry the light or to be fishers of men? What did those who Jesus called do?

6) Catequist explanation:

The catechist explains that all christians, because of the Baptism, are called just like Peter, Andrew, James and  John, to carry  the light, and like them, to give a lot of importance to this invitation of Jesus. We should carry the light to all those around us, at home, at school, in the street, to our friends....To carry the light means that we should be like Jesus; always saying the truth, being generous, helpful, polite and responsible with our duties.

7)  Activity

 9) Commitment:

- Every night we should pray asking Jesus to teach us how to be better christians.

-We should tell all other children that Jesus loves us, that he came to save us from our sins and he hopes to be our friend.
