3º Sunday of lent
Jesus gives us living water.
Objective:
We should learn from Jesus that although he was tired he fulfilled his mission.
1) Setting:
Place clippings of newspapers that refer to water: sea, river, clouds.
2) Greeting:
Dear children, I hope that you all have moved forward in lent. Today Jesus is going to tell us something very important that has to do with the clippings on the notice board.
3) Prayer:
You have already seen the notice board, now let us take some time to observe it carefully. Close your eyes and say slowly: dear Jesus, today we are ready to listen to you. Thanks for calling us and telling us what we are suppose to do. We hope that we are never left without the living water of your friendship. Amen.
4) Review of the commitment:
Before continuing, let us take a look at our commitments.
-Have we been able to defeat some temptations?
-Let us listen to some things that you wrote in your notebooks.
5) Activity
Each child should receive a drawing of a well. Each one should paint and cut it out. At another moment we are going to build the well.
6) THE WORD OF GOD
The Gospel of Saint John 4, 1-15
Let us listen to today’s gospel, which is about water.
7) Reflection
-Why did Jesus sit near to the well?
-Who came to take water out of the well?
-What did Jesus say to the Samaritan woman?
-Why didn’t she understand which water Jesus was talking about?
8) Enlightenment:
It is at midday when it is most hot and Jesus, tired from the journey, sat on the wall that protects the opening of the well. The woman arrives and Jesus speaks to her, asking her for a drink of water. She is surprised that a Jew is speaking to her, since the Jews never speak to Samaritans. Jesus goes beyond limits, distances, and lack of communication. The woman finds it hard to grasp that Jesus is not speaking of natural water. Finally, Jesus touches her feelings and she believes, in other words, she receives the living water.
- After the comment, we are going to write on the inside of the well:
Jesus, you are the living water.
After this, we build the well.
9) Celebration:
The catechist writes this phrase on the notice board: Jesus gives us the living water.
Finally, each child holds his well and gives thanks to God.
10) Commitment:
-Let’s continue paintin the cross and resistin temptations.
-Everyone should pray for other children.
