Theme:
Jesus
tells us that we should always forgive others.
-
Objetive :
That
the children understand that if we imitate Jesus we should, like him always
forgive others.
-
1-Environment:
On the notice board place a drawing and the
following expression: WE SHOULD FORGIVE
OTHERS JUST AS GOD OUR FATHER FORGIVES US.
Dear children, God is always ready to forgive us. We will
understand today’s message if we pay attention.
-During this week, did we have the chance to correct or to give
advice to someone?
-How did I accept corrections?
-Did I pray for sinners every night?
Jesus , when you were dying on the cross, you ask God to forgive
all those who hurt you. Teach us to be like you, generous with those
who do bad to us. Help us to forget the bad things that others do to
us and to have a heart free of revenge. Amen.
The catechist will bring a loaf of bread or a fruit and will share
it among three children in unequal portions. ( before hand the
catechist will explain to these children what this is all about, why
they did not get the same among.) After a while, the catechist will
ask the group what they think about what was done, if they agreed
with what was done. Was it necessary to get upset over something
that is not important? The catechist will then give to each child a
sheet of paper with a line in the middle and ask them to write in
two columns: times when I was forgiven by others and times when I
forgave others.
Jesus is going to tell us something very important about what we
are working on. Matthew 18, 21-35.
21 Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my
brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?"
22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy
times seven. 23 "Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to
a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. 24 When he
began the reckoning, one was brought to him who owed him ten
thousand talents; 25 and as he could not pay, his lord ordered him
to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and
payment to be made. 26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring
him, 'Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.'
27 And out of pity for him the lord of that servant released him and
forgave him the debt. 28 But that same servant, as he went out, came
upon one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and
seizing him by the throat he said, 'Pay what you owe.' 29 So his
fellow servant fell down and besought him, 'Have patience with me,
and I will pay you.' 30 He refused and went and put him in prison
till he should pay the debt. 31 When his fellow servants saw what
had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and
reported to their lord all that had taken place. 32 Then his lord
summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all
that debt because you besought me; 33 and should not you have had
mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?' 34 And in
anger his lord delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all
his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you,
if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."
-What is Jesus telling us when he says that we should forgive seventy times
seven?
-Did the king forgive the person who owed a lot?
-Who is he like?
-What did the king get upset over?
Jesus always teaches us and he knows our heart. He knows that we like
others to forgive us but it is very difficult for us to forgive. It is hard
for us to forgive because we feel offended and our pride is hurt, it is as
if we have a thorn that sticks us. We try to take out the thorn, not by
forgiving but by taking revenge. Many times children fight over things that
are not important. Jesus asks us not to waste time fighting over things that
are not important. He wants us to live in peace. A missionary child
imitating Jesus should always forgive others knowing that Jesus forgives all
that we do.
