Theme:

JESUS EXPECTS US ALSO TO BE GOOD SEEDS.

  • Objetive :
  • That the children should realize that God always expects “Good fruits” from us even if bad fruit or weeds come from our hearts sometimes.

  •  Environment:

Place on the notice board words that express good things (in one color) and bad things (in a different color) that we as persons have. Put them in an unorderly fashion and mixed up the ones with the bad.

  • 1- Greeting

Dear children: Jesus continues today speaking to us in parables relating to planting and the fields. He wants us to fully understand what he wants to tell us because in that way in our lives we will be capable of always following the straight path, the path to salvation.

  • 2- Renewal of commitment.

-Which commandments of the Childhood Missionary did we put into practice?

-Did we pray for our companions and anyone in particular?

  • 3- Prayer.

Dear Jesus: Your Mother, the Virgin Mary taught you many things. We want her to also teach us in the good way, advise us in moments of doubt and help us to have confidence in You. Mary, we are very grateful for all that you do for us, your little children. Amen.

  • 4- Activity.

The children are told that they are to dramatize the following script, the rest is left to their creativity. A family wants to live in unity, in mutual help, in understanding, in respect for each other, however a few negative elements or persons are introduced into the family to destroy it. Someone in the family realizes this and struggles to maintain unity and other values that they had in the beginning. In the end, good wins the battle. According to the number of children present, this can be done in two groups.

  • 5- Gospel

With regards to what we have done earlier, Jesus will tell us in a very clear manner so that the message is well remembered.

Matthew 13, 24-43

He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. While everybody was asleep his enemy came, sowed darnel all among the wheat, and made off. When the new wheat sprouted and ripened, the darnel appeared as well. The owner's servants went to him and said, "Sir, was it not good seed that you sowed in your field? If so, where does the darnel come from?" "Some enemy has done this" he answered. And the servants said, "Do you want us to go and weed it out?" But he said, "No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pull up the wheat with it. Let them both grow till the harvest; and at harvest time I shall' say to the reapers: First collect the darnel and tie it in bundles to be burnt, then gather the wheat into my barn." He put another parable before them, 'The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard' seed which a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all the seeds,  but when it has grown it is the biggest shrub of all and becomes a tree so that the birds of the air come and shelter in its branches.' He told them another parable, 'The kingdom of heaven is like the yeast, a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour till it was leavened all through'.

In all this Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables; indeed, he would never speak to them except in parables. This was to fulfill the prophecy:

I will speak to you in parables and expound things hidden since the foundation of the world.

Then, leaving the crowds, he went to the house; and his disciples came to him and said, 'Explain the parable about the darnel in the field to us'. He said, in reply, 'The sower of the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world;  the good seed is the subjects of the kingdom; the darnel, the subjects of the evil one; the enemy who sowed them, the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels. Well then, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it will be at the end of time. The Son of Man will send his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that provoke offences and all who do evil, and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth. .Then the virtuous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Listen, anyone who has ears!'

  • 6- Reflexion

-Did the parable that Jesus told us have little or much to do with the dramatization we have carried out?

-Who is it that places bad ideas, bad desires in us so that we, without thinking, do bad things?

-As Jesus' friends, what do we have to do then?

  • 7- Enlightenment

  • Jesus has told us very clearly in this parable what is our responsibility: we have good seed and bad seed inside of us but when it is time to act, we have to think and measure the consequences so as not to follow the will of the enemy. God the father has made us free to know how to choose the good from the bad. If we ask Jesus, if we look at him; how he acted, what he said, we will try to imitate Him and we won't be wrong. Also, we must always pray and ask God the Father and the Holy Spirit so that we can be good wheat among the thorns that surrounds us. But we should not be afraid, we should trust in Jesus' help, He who will never fail us.

    • 8- Celebration

Everyone standing will ask Jesus for their own families, so that in our homes  there would always be love and understanding so that the thorns that come to destroy good, would be defeated by Jesus with us. Aloud, each child will make his petition.

    • 9- Commitment

-I will pray every night for my family so that there will always be unity and we might be strong against temptation with Jesus' help.

-I will make a list of the things in which I can help at home during this vacation.
