THEME:
IN JESUS WE FIND REST
- Objetive :
Meditate on the fact that we understand the message of Jesus because God the Father has revealed it to simple people and not to the wise and skilled.
- Environment:
Write with large letters on the notice board the 10th commandment of the missionary child:
A missionary child always thinks about 'Us'
1- Greeting
My dear children: Jesus reunites us once more to listen to his message of salvation and he expects us to place all our trust in him.
2- Renewal of commitment.
-Let us remember which commitment we made last week and how we carried it out.
-Have we prayed so that there would be love in the world?
3- Prayer.
Holding hands let us say: Dear Jesus: We are happy because we have ended another stage in our school education. Perhaps we could have studied more and do many good deeds, helping a companion and helping in our home. We give you thanks for your teachings full of love and we ask you to help us maintain our friendship with you and with all those around us during this vacation.
4- Activity.
Complete the following sentences with appropriate words.
Each child is handed a slip of paper in which is written a letter to Jesus:
Dear___________
For a long time now I have wanted to write you.
I hope that in these C_________________ M_______________ ______________ you have been able to know me better. You are a fortunate child because in many countries like _______________, ____________________, ___________________, _____________ children don't know anything about me, although I love them very much.
I know that each one makes a __________________ and then among all you renew it. I hope that you have understood my _________________ well.
I would like you to tell me: Which things you have learned from me that you liked the most?
______________________________________________________________________
Soon vacation will be here, and perhaps you won't be able to attend the meetings of the CM. Have you thought about what you might be doing during those weeks in which you are not going to attend your group? If you haven't thought about it, may I suggest a few things: Every day you might _______________ the Word of God, ________________ a sick person, ________________ every night for your catechist and your group companions, ____________, something with the poor, _____________ your mother with house chores, etc. If you like, you can place in these lines, yourself, other things that you would like to do:
I want you to be my friend, to be happy always; I love you and I am helping you, that's why you should not be afraid. Remember to greet Mary, my mother every morning, she who loves you a lot. I want you to spend a very pleasant vacation and kiss your mother on my behalf.
Your friend Jesus.
5- Gospel
Let us listen now to the message that Jesus brings to us today in:
Matthew 11, 25-30
Jesus exclaimed, 'I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and 1 will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for 1 am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.'
6- Reflexion
-Why did Jesus thank the Father?
-Who are the mere children?
-Why did Jesus invite those who labor and are overburdened?
-How are Jesus' yoke and burden?
7- Enlightenment
Jesus is thrilled to see that poor, simple and humble people listen to and live the message of the Kingdom. On the other hand the pharisees, those who think themselves the learned and clever don't understand anything at all. Jesus invites us to trust in him, to place in his heart our worries and sufferings. He tells us to shoulder his yoke which is easy and as a light burden, that is, we bring to life his teachings and like him be meek (non violent) and humble, brothers of all and willing to help always.
8- Celebration
Standing in a circle we give thanks to Jesus for the things he has told us today in the Gospel. Each should say what has most caught his attention
Holding hands let us pray the Our Father and the Hail Mary.
9- Commitment
-We will read more than once, during the vacation, the letter that Jesus sent us so as not to forget what we have promised to do.
-All who can, will assist to the group meeting, whenever the catechist tells us.
